1. The utility companies don't really care about how efficiently your heating and cooling
system
is performing. Their business is to sell more energy products.
2. When you use their service and warranty programs, you are dealing with a middle
man in
your home who is sub-contracted by the utility or Home Warranty company. Do you know
or trust
their employees?
3. You probably won't see the same technician or even the same company in your
home twice.
4. Sub-contractors train their employees to play the add-on game, which leads to
additional
charges for non-covered costs or deductibles.
5. Low paid technicians, unless they sell add-ons.
6. Slow repairs due to warranty replacement parts, sometimes days or even weeks.
7. Only service work is covered and only when there is an emergency.
8. Replacement equipment is very low end, cheap quality and not efficient. You pay
add-on
charges for upgrades.
9. Non-covered items can include thermostats, wiring, refrigerant lines, dirty coils or
blowers
and many more.
10. All repairs are warranted for 30 days. (After that, it's another deductible, even for the
same
problem or call back.)
